Dragons beard candy is a traditional art in china. It is incredibly similar to cotton candy but is mostly made by hand. It was initially invented in china and now is popular as a Chinese delicacy around the world.
The legend of dragon’s beard first started during the Han dynasty where it gained its name due to its resemblance of the mythical Chinese dragon’s beard and also due to its ability to stick on ones face.

It is traditionally prepared combing sugar and maltose syrup but now can be replaced by corn syrup which is heated on the stove with a small amount of water. The artists create this dessert by continuosly pulling and creating rings till they achieve fine strands of candy which look like silk. This candy is sometimes filled with crushed peanuts and is served wrapped like a roll. It takes a lot of patience and practice to perfect this edible art-form.
It is definite workout for the arms and is a quickly disappearing from shelf treat as it is absolutely delicious!!
